All to Jesus I Surrender

Jesus Christ calls us to complete surrender. In Luke 14:33, He declares, “So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.” These words may feel daunting, but they come from a Savior who loves us and knows that the best thing for us is an eternal home in Heaven. True discipleship demands an unwavering commitment to put God first in every aspect of our lives.

Surrendering to God Daily

Jesus emphasizes the importance of prioritizing God in Matthew 6:33: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” When we wake up each morning, our focus should not be on worldly ambitions but on drawing closer to God and aligning our lives with His will.

The apostles exemplified this spirit of surrender. In Luke 18:28, Peter says, “See, we have left all and followed You.” Are we willing to make the same sacrifice? Are we prepared to let go of earthly attachments to follow Christ wholeheartedly?

Seeking the True Church

Sometimes surrendering to Christ means reevaluating where and how we worship. What if we realize that the place we worship does not align with the teachings of Christ as revealed in Scripture? Would we have the courage to leave behind tradition, comfort, or family ties to seek the truth?

Jesus assured us that His church would endure: “And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). His church exists today, and we can find it by turning to Scripture.

The book of Acts provides a blueprint for Christ’s church. As you read through Acts, you’ll see that the early church was made up of imperfect people striving to follow God’s Word. They faced trials, persecution, and internal struggles, yet they continued to grow in faith and love.

Trusting God with Our Burdens

One of the greatest acts of surrender is casting our cares upon the Lord. In 1 Peter 5:7, we are reminded: “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” Life’s challenges can feel overwhelming, but we are not meant to carry them alone. Jesus invites us to find rest in Him:

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

Surrendering our burdens to Christ frees us to focus on what truly matters—our relationship with God and our service to Him.

The Cost of Discipleship

Jesus never promised that following Him would be easy. In fact, He warned us to count the cost:

“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple” (Luke 14:26-27).

This passage doesn’t mean we are to despise our loved ones, but rather that our love for Christ must surpass all other relationships. True discipleship requires us to prioritize Him above all else, even when it’s difficult.

The apostle Paul understood this commitment. He wrote in Philippians 3:7-8:

“But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.”

Are we willing to view our earthly achievements and possessions as secondary to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ?

Imperfect People, Perfect Savior

It’s important to remember that surrendering to Christ doesn’t mean we become perfect overnight. The early Christians struggled, just as we do today. Yet, they found strength in God’s grace.

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10:

“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

As Christians, we are not defined by our imperfections but by our reliance on Christ. Surrendering to Him means allowing His strength to work through our weaknesses.

A Life Fully Surrendered

Surrendering to Jesus is not a one-time decision—it’s a daily choice. It means placing our faith in Him, obeying His Word, and trusting Him with every aspect of our lives. As Paul urges in Romans 12:1:

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.”

When we surrender all to Jesus, we gain so much more than we give up. In Him, we find peace, purpose, and the promise of eternal life.

Are You Ready to Surrender?

If you are ready to surrender to Christ, start by seeking Him in His Word. Read the book of Acts and see the pattern of the church that Jesus established. Find a congregation that follows the teachings of Scripture, and commit to growing in your faith.

Remember, surrendering to Jesus is the best decision you can make. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it. As Jesus said in Matthew 16:24-25:

“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

Will you take up your cross today and follow Him? Will you truly surrender all to Jesus?
