Meet our preacher
Wayne was born in Coleman, Texas. He grew up in Bangs, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 1994. After doing factory work for a few years, he graduated from the West Central Texas Law Enforcement Academy and earned his Texas Peace Officer license. After working as a Peace Officer, he went into corrections and worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for a total of 11 years primarily as a Sergeant and Lieutenant.
Wayne obeyed the Gospel and was baptized into Christ in December of 2004. He first studied through the Online Academy of Biblical Studies. He then went to Southwest School of Bible Studies where he earned his Diploma in Biblical Studies. He also received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management Communication from Amridge University.
Prior to moving to La Vernia in February 2018, he and his wife, Marcela, worked at
Cherokee Home for Children as house parents for 3 years. Before Cherokee, they were foster parents for 5 years through CPS. They have 4 children, Carter and Vincent, and twins Zayden and Colton.
Wayne is committed to living his life for Christ and following the inspired Word of God. He loves preparing and presenting sermons and Bible class lessons. His desire is to help others grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He feels very blessed to have a position where he can do those things on a full-time basis.
